V3 Sports is thrilled to share a major milestone in developing the V3 Center, a health and wellness sports facility serving North Minneapolis and the Twin Cities area. The Sauer family generously committed $6 million to support the completion of The V3 Center – Phase One, which will serve as a hub of collaboration, offering programming in partnership with Twin Cities organizations such as Boys and Girls Club, Agape Oasis, Smart North and Walker West Music Academy.

“The Sauer family’s remarkable commitment represents a monumental step forward as we prepare to open Phase One next year,” said Erika L. Binger, Founding Director of V3 Sports. “We are deeply grateful for their generosity, which will create a lasting impact in our community!”

With the completion of Phase One, The V3 Center is excited to begin offering healthy lifestyle choices and high quality programming to community members of all ages;  including after school and out of school time enrichment, drop-in childcare, technology and music training and of course best-in-class aquatics education. The V3 Center is one of the largest North Minneapolis investment in history and will be a major catalyst to continue elevating our community.

Malik Rucker, Director of Strategic Partnerships and Community Engagement at V3 Sports, added, “This generous commitment from the Sauer Family underscores our shared commitment to providing unparalleled opportunities for youth and families in our community. This gives us confidence to continue pursuing an aspirational vision that combines a great place to be with great programming on the Northside.”

The Sauer Family Foundation, expressed enthusiasm for the project, saying, “We are proud to support The V3 Center as they prepare to open Phase One. We believe in the power of bringing people together, making sure children and families have the resources they need. We are excited to support the V3 team and this project.”

The V3 Center has significant momentum to complete the project. V3 Sports has raised $54.2 million for Phase One and Two. V3 Sports continues to seek $57.8 million in grants and contributions to make the V3 Center a reality. They invite leaders in business, philanthropy, and the public sector to join them in this aspirational and important project, creating a world-class health, wellness, sports, and community destination in North Minneapolis.

About The V3 Center:

The V3 Center is located in the vibrant heart of North Minneapolis, a historically underinvested community, especially when contrasted with its more affluent counterparts in the Twin Cities. Serving as a beacon of positive change, V3 Sports is dedicated to leveraging the V3 Center as a catalyst for promoting equitable access to healthier lifestyle choices for our young people and families in North Minneapolis. Our commitment extends beyond mere infrastructure; we aim to achieve this vision through the high-quality programs and partnerships, impactful mentorship, educational initiatives, and community engagement.

In Phase One, the V3 Center will feature 5,500 square feet of fitness floor space, a 25-yard pool, a hydrotherapy pool, drop-in childcare, a restaurant, out-of-school programming, such as the Boys and Girls Club, and multipurpose rooms. Anticipated to open around 2027, Phase Two will feature a 50-meter Olympic-sized pool, an indoor track, multi-purpose courts, community and event spaces, and additional amenities. V3 expresses deep gratitude to the Sauer family and all our supporters!
