I am a movement therapist and athlete development specialist with a robust background in aquatic sports and physical activity. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from McKendree University and a Master of Science in Kinesiology, specializing in Sport Psychology, from the University of Minnesota. I further advanced my expertise by completing a Ph.D. in Kinesiology, focusing on the behavioral aspects of physical activity, at the University of Minnesota.
With over two decades of experience in the field of aquatics, I have transitioned from my early days as a competitive swimmer and lifeguard to holding various leadership roles in aquatic programs. In 2022, I founded Sankofa Swim International, a company dedicated to developing culturally specific aquatic programs for diverse communities and providing specialized aquatic training for athletes, military personnel, and first responders. My passion for swimming and commitment to community engagement are evident in my ongoing efforts to increase aquatic participation within culturally diverse populations.
As an avid swimmer, USA Swimming coach, and scuba diver, I am deeply motivated by the potential of water-based activities to unite families and friends while promoting fitness and well-being.
Joining the V3 Sports board excites me because it aligns perfectly with my values and vision. I am inspired by V3 Sports’ mission to elevate the community through fitness, wellness, and education. I am enthusiastic about leveraging my expertise to create more opportunities for community members to connect with water activities, fostering a sense of togetherness and building stronger, healthier communities.
